The 10 Best Joel Episodes Of ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’

We got Movie Sign! The series return of Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been announced for April 14th. Before the new episodes, let’s take the time to look back at the best episodes featuring both hosts of the previous run. First up, the best showcasing series creator Joel Hodgson.

Pod People

It stinks! Seriously though this story about a you guys boy who finds an alien is as far away from E.T. as you can get. By the end of it you’ll be wishing the alien visitor Trumpy had burned up entering the atmosphere.

I Accuse My Parents

This film from the 1940s shows what happens when someone has neglectful parents. Of course they end up joining the mob. The joke about keeping track of the money the main character earns throughout the films is particularly amusing.

Hercules vs. The Moon Men

One of the many Hercules movies the crew had to watch. This one featured the legendary “Deep Hurting” scene, where the trio runs out of jokes because a scene goes on for far too long. Hopefully the new series will feature just a few Hercules movies as well which are so entertaining.

Amazing Colossal Man

Remember when nuclear bombs had the power to grant superpowers? This time it causes a man to grow in size. The title character also comes to visit the Satellite of Love in a very amusing way.

The Killer Shrews

The team watches a film about giant shrews trying to tear people apart. If this isn’t enough for you, then perhaps you should try the Killer Shrew drink the crew makes.

WARNING: Drinking the Killer Shrew may cause diabetes.

Gamera vs. Zigra

The Gamera movie episodes are legendary for being hilarious. Though many prefer the first film this one features the crew celebrating the end of the Gamera movies with a party, making dioramas, and even an internal diagram of what the inside of the giant turtle would look like.

Santa Claus Conquers The Martians

What could possibly be the worst films featuring old Saint Nick despite it featuring the first screen appearance of Mrs. Claus. Santa and some very annoying children are kidnapped and taken to Mars. Also the trio sings about having a “Patrick Swayze Christmas” which sadly never took off to as the geek Christmas anthem we all hoped it would be.

Cave Dwellers

Have you heard the legends of Ator? Well you probably should. This poorly made fantasy film complete with an overly complicated plot and hang gliding. After watching it you yourself will be afraid of them going into another flashback.

Mitchell

A movie which tries to turn Joe Don Baker into an action hero. The premise is ludicrous enough but it’s also the last episode where Joel was the host. Watch as he says goodbye to the Satellite of Love thanks to Gypsy’s efforts to save him.

Manos: The Hands of Fate

This episode was so good it was voted number one on the fans choice during the Turkey Day Marathon in 2016. Watch as a family is trying unsuccessfully to find the Valley Lodge only to discover the domain of the mysterious Master and his socially awkward servant Torgo. It’s one of the worst movies ever made but it’s so bad it is one of the most entertaining episodes of this series. Give it a watch yourself and see why.
