Morbius The Living Vampire

Sony’s taken another bold step in expanding their Spider-Man universe in creating another spinoff with Morbius: The Living Vampire.

The antihero is not the first Spider-Man character to get his own spinoff with Venom also being developed. Bruk Sharpless and Matt Sazma, both of Power Rangers, wrote the scripted and submitted to the studio after a secret development process according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Morbius, who was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane, first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101, the first issue not written by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee.

Dr. Michael Morbius was once a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease, but an attempt to cure himself rendered him with a condition that was a form of vampirism. Going by Morbius, he developed fangs, a thirst for blood and super strength standard of the supernatural creatures. He initially fought Spider-Man before showing some heroic tendencies.

Whether Morbius is going be enclosed within the Tom Holland universe of Spider-Man films or will be involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe under Marvel Studios is unknown as Sony is currently mum on plans.

Sharpless and Sazma tried previously to take on vampirism with Dracula Untold for Universal. They also worked on The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt and currently working on running and writing the Lost in Space reboot for Netflix for 2018.

Who would you want to be cast as Morbius? Would it work better as a self-enclosed story? Does he belong in the MCU?
