Comic Book and Illustration Legend Bernie Wrightson Has Passed Away

Bernie Wrightson

It is with a heavy heart that I report on this. Comic book legend, Bernie Wrightson has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The news came from his wife via Facebook.

Wrightson was known for being one of the best monster and horror comics illustrators ever. He not only had definitive runs on DC’s Swamp Thing and Heavy Metal magazine, but he also wrote and drew a highly regarded adaptation of Frankenstein and was responsible for the comic book version of the Stephen King/George Romero movie Creepshow and also illustrated King’s horror novella Cycle of the Werewolf.

Very sincere condolences to his family and friends.
