Marjorie Prime looks to be a curious, thought-provoking science-fiction drama about time and memory. Jon Hamm plays a computer program who is created to look like the dead patriarch of a star studded family.

What might be most exciting about Marjorie Prime is the return of Geena Davis and Tim Robbins in interesting roles. Neither of them have been in the spotlight for a few years; not that this will have them fending off $20 million paychecks left and right, but it’s great to see them back. And it’s always great to see Lois Smith in any capacity.
Marjorie Prime was a hit at Sundance this past winter. It’s directed by Michael Almereyda, an eclectic filmmaker who brought us the underrated modern take on Hamlet starring Ethan Hawke. It will open in limited release on August 18 and eventually crawl its way across the country, so be on the look out if this looks like your jam.
