Hayao Miayazaki is stepping out of retirement…again.
The legendary Studio Ghibli director is planning to make a feature length film out of a story he’s been working on for nearly two decades called Kemushi no Boro (Boro the Caterpillar). The plot is said to revolve around a caterpillar so small “it may be easily squished between your fingers.”
Miyazaki was originally planning to create the story as a short for the Ghlibli museum, but was reportedly unhappy with how it turned out. He claims the project could take 5 years to make, which would make him 80 years old at its time of release.

This isn’t the first time Miyazaki has disrupted his retirement to make a film, but is anyone really complaining? Studio Ghibli has not confirmed if they are greenlighting Kemushi no Boro, but I doubt they would deny Miyazaki the chance to make one more movie.
