Because What’s More American than the Over Consumption of Mediocrity?
These beers (Sah’tea and La Meule) are far from mediocrity, but that’s the tagline of my spiel, so I’m sticking with it. I have started writing this half-way into drinking, so there are new rules this week:
Unnecessary Rules:
1. I must keep the alcohol in the bottle I purchased it in!
2. I DO WHAT I WANT!
3. I ain’t got time for rules this week!
The truth is, I started watching a Netflix, Oscar-nominated documentary, “Winter on Fire,” which is about the Ukrainian Revolution, and it made me want a beer, so I started early. It was quite a powerful film and was very thought provoking about humanity. As the kiddies would say, “I got the feels,” BUT that’s not the point and quite possibly for another article on this great website (wink, wink).

Anywho, I snapped my Swiss Mountain brewed Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes (BFM) La Meule open, and was immediately greeted with a sizzling sound and strong yeasty smell, quite reminiscent of vinegar even. Why it’s logo is a cool little black gecko/lizard, I have no idea. There ain’t no such animal in the Swiss Mountains!
Sorry, back to the beer. It reciprocates the same yeasty, sagey smell; in flavor and in textural feel when consuming its golden ale brew. That’s not to be dissuaded, if you can find it; try it. The ale is full flavored, but still smooth, light, and drinkable. It gives a very comfortable sensation and lasts until the last drop. I say drink it!
Up next, Sah’tea. This 27 oz bottle is my third cup of tea today. I’ve had a blend of green, a blend of black (how I like my men), and a blend of 9% alcohol. This Dogfish Head beer is said to based off a traditional 9th-century Finnish recipe, where it was brewed with rye and juniper berries, under heated rocks. This brew just happened to add black chai tea into the process, and you can definitely taste it. It’s a very rich spicy taste. A good medium of different flavors, while not being overwhelmed.
Overall these beers gave a mean tasteful quality. I got what I paid for and it wasn’t cheap. 37 ounces of deliciousness. Even the beer, that is Swiss French “La Meule” was good, and I have a staunch stance of things I can’t stand like “people who are intolerant of other people’s cultures… and the [French]!”-Don’t worry that’s an altered version of an “Austin Powers: Goldmember” joke, and even if you are offended just think, a 24-year-old man who is addicted to Charms Blow Pops has written this!
I wasn’t even sure I’d enjoy these beers with both having heavy sediment lurking at the bottom, but obviously, I did. Go out and enjoy them responsibly.
